To promote community grassroots governance and improve people's livelihood, Dudian sub-district in the Binzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, Shandong province, has established a market in the Chaoyang Xin'an Community that focuses on the elderly in resettlement communities who have difficulties getting out.

This market provides high-quality agricultural and sideline products at residents' doorsteps with convenient services, ensuring that children receive good care, the elderly are taken care of, the weak are supported, and culture is passed down.

Additionally, through the "I Love Dudian" volunteer service mini-program, volunteers deliver orders made online to the residents, providing them with a sense of happiness through a "convenient, reassuring, and affordable" shopping experience.

"We will continue to focus on crucial aspects of grassroots, actively explore governance models for large communities that promote residents' well-being and prosperity, comprehensively create a peaceful home for residents, and  enhance the transition of the people from 'safety and health' to 'happy life'," said Wang Zhongxin, secretary of the Party working committee of Dudian sub-district.

The market exemplifies Dudian sub-district's emphasis on "service is the best form of governance". This year, the sub-district has addressed needs such as childcare, elderly care, employment for disadvantaged groups, and formulated a resource inventory including idle items, labor, and conflict resolution, resulting in the construction of canteens and workshops. It recruits over 800 volunteers and 38 service teams, helping 10,000 people in need. (Edited by Xie Zhenzhen)
