Mediation room eases residents' concerns in Shandong’s district

The Xiguan neighborhood in Laiwu district, Jinan, Shandong province, has established a mediation room to resolve conflicts among residents and foster a harmonious social environment.

Named Shuxinge, the mediation room is a place for residents to feel at ease and content. With a decor reflecting a traditional Chinese style, the room creates a simple yet warm atmosphere, allowing residents to find solace and ease their initial distress.

In June, Mr. Hao sought help at the mediation room after improper construction by a contractor led to water damage in his storage room. After mediation, they agreed on an 8,000 yuan ($1,126.5) compensation, leading to a handshake and reconciliation between both parties.

Numerous similar cases have been resolved here, earning the mediation room various accolades, including the "Outstanding People's Mediation Committee of Shandong Province". (Edited by Li Weiwei)
