Laiwu district in Jinan recently held a celebration for the 30th Sanitation Workers' Day in Shandong province.
During the event, a group of notable sanitation workers in the district were commended for their duties. A documentary depicting the hard work of sanitation workers, along with stage plays and sand art performances, praised these unsung heroes.
"I'm glad to receive the honor of an 'excellent sanitation worker'. I will keep working hard for a cleaner urban environment with my broom," said Cheng Fenglan, a sanitation worker of Dawangzhuang town in Laiwu.
In recent years, Laiwu has invested 320 million yuan ($44.92 million) to establish a team of over 4,700 sanitation workers. Thanks to their efforts, 7.1 million square meters of roads and 69,000 meters of traffic barriers are kept clean every day.
Furthermore, the district has set up 17 city management service stations and hospitality stations for sanitation workers, that show its respect for them and their work. (Edited by Li Weiwei)
