Dashijia village in Pengquan subdistrict, Laiwu district, Jinan, celebrated a bountiful harvest of millet this year, as the harvester roared through the fields.
To ensure optimal yield and quality, villagers in the area are diligently weeding, thinning seedlings, and irrigating their crops.
In 2023, Pengquan subdistrict devised a strategy to utilize fallow land for the growth of the millet cultivation sector.
"This year, our village planted over 70 mu (4.67 hectares) of millet, which is selling for over seven yuan per kilogram, resulting in the collective income of the village increasing by over 80,000 yuan ($11,247.48)," said Wu Zhaokai, Party secretary of Dashijia village.
Laiwu district is making plans to integrate agriculture and tourism, not only strengthening the collective economy but also increasing farmers' incomes, injecting a strong driving force into rural revitalization efforts. (Edited by Li Weiwei)
