In recent years, Caoxian county – nestling in East China's Shandong province – has prioritized building beautiful villages as a crucial part of its rural vitalization strategy.

The initiative focuses on enhancing its infrastructure and improving rural living environments – creating picturesque communities that reflect a better life.

Caocheng has actively developed its rural vitalization demonstration zones, addressing public restroom renovations, pollution controls, waste sorting and the removal of illegal construction.

The efforts are widely said to have transformed villages, beautified courtyards, greened homes and fostered a stronger sense of community.

Taking advantage of the demonstration zones, Caocheng has tailored improvement plans for each village.

This year, it established three demonstration villages – Wangletian, Balimiao and Liuliuzhuang. Key projects have included separating rainwater and sewage, developing cultural tourism areas and creating themed squares.

"It has changed so much! As soon as I step outside, I see flowers and a square for fitness. My hometown is developing rapidly, with more job opportunities and a closer community," said Kong Lingrong, a resident of Wangletian village.

With the environment improving, life has quite literally become beautiful. Moving forwards, plans are for Caocheng to focus on enhance its infrastructure, strengthen industries, ensure social welfare and improve living conditions – deepening its rural vitalization strategy and allowing traditional villages to shine with a new charm and purpose.
