In order to improve the lives of its residents, Dong'e county in Liaocheng, Shandong province, continues to improve cultural infrastructure and optimize public cultural services.
To provide enough venues for urban residents to participate in cultural activities, Dong'e relies on existing public libraries, cultural centers, and art galleries, while also constructing museums and several urban bookstores, achieving a more balanced distribution of public cultural venues.
In rural areas, the county is upgrading comprehensive cultural stations to establish comprehensive cultural service centers, rural libraries, and cultural and sports squares, aiming to ensure such facilities are accessible to as many residents as possible.
Utilizing these venues, Dong'e has organized a series of activities including traditional Chinese classics recitations, lectures, book clubs, and square and ballroom dance classes. Additionally, it has hosted stage performances, square dance competitions, and singing contests, among other events.
“Learning tai chi in my spare time is not only good for my physical health but also my happiness. The free activities organized by the county are fantastic,” said a resident who recently participated in a tai chi public welfare course held at Dong'e Library.
Furthermore, leveraging its unique cultural resources such as Yellow River culture and E-Jiao culture, Dong'e has hosted a series of festive events, creating a local tourism brand blending health and culture. (Edited by Li Weiwei)
