In order to push forward the ecological conservation and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin, a national-level initiative, Dong'e county in Liaocheng, Shandong province, has seamlessly integrated ecological management with industrial advancement, resulting in a scenic landscape characterized by clear waters, verdant banks, and fragrant blooms.

Through persistent ecological management efforts, the county has transformed into a place of ecological beauty.

Dong'e boasts a forest area of 169,500 mu (11,300 hectares) and a forest coverage rate of 22.78 percent, the highest rate in Liaocheng.

This year, the county has been actively enhancing urban greening efforts by creating more street green spaces and pocket parks. Rural afforestation initiatives, featuring pomegranates, jujubes, walnuts, and persimmons, not only beautify villages but also generate substantial economic returns.

Furthermore, Dong'e has effectively combined ecological governance with the development of characteristic industries, promoting eco-friendly planting and rural cultural tourism tailored to local conditions.

The county is rapidly advancing the development of agroforestry industries as well, with 3,600 mu of agroforestry land currently yielding an annual output value exceeding 80 million yuan ($11.32 million). Additionally, cultural and tourism activities such as Yellow River hiking and Aishan Peony Tours have enhanced the area's reputation. (Edited by Li Weiwei)
