Wucheng county of Dezhou city, Shandong province is tackling issues like over-the-top weddings and high bride prices by producing a micro-drama titled The Most Beautiful Wedding. Using humor and an accessible style, the drama advocates for lower bride prices and simpler ceremonies.

In recent years, Wucheng county has used new media to reform outdated rural customs by promoting practices like low or zero bride prices.
