Autumn Equinox, which is the 16th solar term of the year and signals the midpoint of autumn, begins on Sept 22 and ends on Oct 7 this year. It marks one of only two days per year in which day and night are equal in length.

In Lingcheng district of Dezhou, residents are celebrating with a time-honored tradition: making tangyuan, glutinous rice balls stuffed with black sesame or peanut butter.

These small, round snacks, symbolizing fullness and harvest, are a beloved treat during the Autumn Equinox. With their soft, chewy exterior and sweet filling, they are a delightful treat that brings joy and comfort.

Another popular custom associated with the Autumn Equinox is the "egg-standing" challenge, in which participants attempt to balance an egg on its end, believing that the feat brings good luck and prosperity.
