Special rectification campaign in Shandong ensures food safety
Kuiwen district of Weifang, Shandong has initiated an overhaul and standardization campaign for delivery-only restaurants, focusing on addressing the most pressing food safety concerns and effectively enhancing the quality of food delivery services.
"To safeguard food safety for the public, we have established eight inspection and guidance teams to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the number and distribution of delivery-only restaurants within our district, as well as inspecting their operating licenses, adherence to regulations, and other relevant aspects," said a staff member from the local market supervision administration.

Presently, the district is home to over 2,000 registered catering establishments, with 364 identified as delivery-only restaurants that operate predominantly through online food delivery platforms such as Meituan and Eleme.
In order to enforce the accountability of online food delivery platforms, the market regulatory authorities in Kuiwen district have intensified their oversight. They are urging these platforms to make sure licenses by food service providers are publically displayed online and collaborating for spot checks offline. (Edited by Du Xiaping)
