Hedong: Rice harvest and croaking frogs
In Guojiazai village in Hedong district of Linyi city, local officials weigh black-spotted frogs just collected from their breeding base. After a year of cultivation, these frogs are ready for market.
Rice and frog co-cultivation involves raising frogs to control pests and fertilize fields and integrates ecological rice cultivation. This method effectively controls pests in rice paddies, boosts yields, and reduces environmental pollution. Local trials have proven successful.

Guojiazai village, along with other villages, hosts four frog farming bases across 15 mu (1 hectare) with 38 ponds. These bases produce 1,500 to 2,000 kilograms of frogs per hectare and generate 150,000 yuan ($21,060) in collective income. (Edited by Lin Li)
