Shandong's Chengwu puts culture on your doorstep

Recently, Chengwu county in Heze city, Shandong province, held a grassroots cultural promotion performance where over 300 farmer actors on more than 10 teams representing 13 rural divisions in the county participated.

The wonderful programs of baolengdiao (a local musical form), drumming, Henan opera, dance routines, and traditional Chinese musical instruments gave the local audience a smorgasbord of culture.

Since the beginning of this year, Chengwu county has established over 100 grassroots cultural promotion teams coming from 469 village communities in 13 rural divisions. These teams are comprised of more than 2,000 people and 274 cultural "backbone" performers, and have created 155 original works. Through dances, songs, skits, dramas, and traditional storytelling, the grassroots cultural promotion teams spread heartwarming stories and enriched the cultural life to the masses.
