Villagers from Dongzong village in Shangtang town, Qingyun, Shandong province, have been diligently harvesting ripe grapes at the Shengxian Ecological Picking Garden as of alte, showcasing a vibrant scene of abundant harvest.
According to Zong Xuexian, the manager of the picking garden, this year they have planted a total of 10 mu (0.67 hectares) of grapes, primarily focusing on early-maturing varieties with a yield exceeding 500 kilograms per mu. These grapes are characterized by their thin skin and thick flesh, offering a fresh, fragrant, and sweet taste that is popular in the surrounding counties.
"Visitors can pick grapes on-site or order them online. We project that this year's gross income could reach 100,000 yuan ($14,000)," Zong said.
In recent years, Qingyun county has prioritized the development of specialized industries as a key driver for rural vitalization. By leveraging regional resources, the county has continuously optimized its agricultural industry structure and actively developed industries such as specialty crop cultivation and breeding.
Furthermore, the county is advancing the integration of specialized planting with leisure picking, establishing a new model of integrated agricultural and tourism development that has the potential to bring added prosperity to villagers. (Edited by Li Weiwei)
