'Robot+' in Weihai's science park empowers industrial development

Weihai Torch Hi-tech Science Park, located in Weihai in East China's Shandong province, has leveraged the burgeoning robot industry to advance the development of new quality productive forces, leading to fruitful achievements in technology advancement, product innovation and application scenarios.
In Weihai Torch Hi-tech Science Park, as the level of intelligent manufacturing rises, robots are being applied across various industry sectors, leading to a surge in the number of innovative applications.
At Weihai Qibo Robot Co Ltd, a humanoid remote-controlled robot with super-fast reaction speeds has emerged as a novel sports and entertainment product. Below the boxing ring, as players throw punches, the robot on the platform immediately mirrors their movements with a mere 12-millisecond delay, creating a seamless and immersive interaction.
Qibo has established precise robot kinematics and dynamics models, designing a new transmission system to reduce mechanical system delays.
Remote-controlled robots are not uncommon in fields like remote surgery, manned spaceflight, and underwater exploration, but Qibo's faster speed and more nimble operation open up new possibilities for innovative applications. "In the future, we plan to develop large, fast, multi-purpose remote-controlled robots for industrial use, capable of handling heavy workpieces and conducting precise remote operations," said the company's founder Geng Tao.
Qibo exemplifies the new vitality bursting forth in the robotics industry, showcasing the efforts of Weihai Torch Hi-tech Science Park to empower future industries. "We will continuously expand the breadth and depth of robot applications, facilitate the development of new quality productive forces, and achieve positive outcomes," said Yuan Yi, director of the science park's Science and Technology Innovation Bureau.
