New employment groups in Shandong district facilitate social governance
In Kuiwen district of Weifang, Shandong province, a concerted effort is underway to heighten the sense of belonging and well-being among new employment groups, harnessing their collective strength to enrich grassroots social governance and foster mutual progress.
Kuiwen recently hosted Weifang's inaugural competition for new employment groups - a skills showdown for online delivery personnel. Top riders from diverse online delivery platforms vied for supremacy while the event also offered health screenings for the workers and carried out legal awareness campaigns.
Moreover, through a variety of services and initiatives aimed at improving the skills of workers, Kuiwen extends care and support to the new employment groups. Notably, the Kuiwen district online car-hailing service center offers a suite of preferential services to drivers including automotive care, daily living amenities, and healthcare benefits.

In a reciprocal gesture, the new employment groups are helping to bolster grassroots governance. During the national college entrance exam period, online car-hailing drivers from Kuiwen join the student escort volunteer team, ensuring students arrive at their exam venues securely and expediently. Over the years, the ranks of Kuiwen district's student escort volunteer team have swelled, with an increasing influx of new employment groups joining the fold. (Edited by Du Xiaping)
