Dezhou paper-cutter brings Chinese culture to Malaysia through online teaching

Shi Wanzhao, an inheritor of Shuozhixiang paper-cutting, an intangible cultural heritage item of Shandong province, recently conducted an online class for the Confucius Institute at Tunku Abdul Rahman University in Malaysia, sharing the rich traditions of Chinese culture with teachers and students abroad.

Hailing from Lingcheng district of Dezhou, Shandong province, Shi discovered her passion for paper-cutting at a young age. Over the years, she has honed her craft by blending traditional techniques with a unique and personalized style, resulting in works that are diverse in theme and reflective of contemporary life.

During the online session, Shi Wanzhao showcased the intricacies of paper-cutting, demonstrated key techniques and actively engaged with the students. This interactive experience offered the students in Malaysia a deeper understanding and appreciation of Chinese cultural heritage.
