Volunteer group of county in Shandong nurtures growth of children
A volunteer group in Linshu county, East China's Shandong province, has implemented a comprehensive support model emphasizing emotional, intellectual, and financial assistance and skills training for orphaned and vulnerable children.
By establishing one-on-one pairings, the group delivers targeted aid to children in need, with the broader goal of supporting not just the individual child but uplifting entire families.
Established in June 2018, the group has grown into a robust team of over 600 volunteers, spanning all 12 towns and streets in the county. The volunteers, drawn from various sectors, including government, business, and education, have formed one-on-one partnerships with 453 orphaned and vulnerable children.
Their efforts have helped these children address challenges in their daily lives, including issues related to medical care and education, alleviating the burdens of both the children and their guardians and becoming like family to them.
The group's work has been widely recognized by various authorities, earning numerous honorary titles. The volunteers have become a shining example of the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation. (Edited by Zhang Ying)
