Village newspaper connects hearts in Gaomi
Baicheng village in Gaomi, a county-level city in Weifang, Shandong, once faced communication challenges as its economy and population grew and residents transitioned from farming to other work. This made it difficult for villagers to gather for meetings or stay informed about village affairs.
To address this, the village's committees started the "Village Monthly Bulletin" in January 2001. The newsletter has since become a vital tool for keeping villagers informed, documenting local developments, and promoting community values.
Huang Yicheng, Party secretary of Baicheng village, said the "Village Monthly Bulletin" was originally intended to ensure financial transparency but has since evolved to include national policies, legal information, daily tips, and community news. It keeps villagers informed and improves the quality of the community. From its first to 282nd issue, it has tracked financial growth and enhanced local life. (Edited by Lin Li)
