During summer break, a time when children can relax, broaden their horizons, and explore the unknown, the issue of childcare often plagues many parents who need to continue working.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable summer vacation for children, the Xueye community center in Laiwu district, Jinan, Shandong province, has taken proactive measures to address this challenge, emphasizing the importance of safety and well-being for children during the holiday season.

Various villages in the area, organized by the community center, recently collaborated to launch the "colorful summer classroom" initiative, providing children with a diverse range of services, including daily supervision, academic tutoring, traditional Chinese studies, creative arts, intellectual crafts, and engaging science activities. These programs integrate elements of revolutionary education, safety education, Party history education, and national defense education, enriching children's holiday experiences with both learning and fun.

Special courses on water safety and emergency first aid were also conducted to enhance the safety awareness and emergency response capabilities of children. Practical skills such as Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the Heimlich maneuver were taught, empowering children to effectively handle unexpected accidents and emergencies.

By offering classes on traditional Chinese literature, the summer classrooms aim to inspire a love for learning traditional Chinese culture among children. Through recitation and storytelling, young participants are encouraged to appreciate the richness of traditional culture and cultivate virtues and etiquette. (Edited by Yang Yi)
