Ejiao industry boosts TCM development
Dong'e county, Shandong province is making efforts to develop its ejiao industry and striving to boost its image as a center of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) health and wellness. Ejiao refers to a type of donkey-hide gelatin that is popular in China.
The county has been building health and tourism complexes such as Chinese Ejiao Museum and Donkey Museum.
The "Ejiao World" has been included as a national example of TCM education, combining health and tourism. Meanwhile, Dong'e county has been rated as the best county of health tourism in China, the most specific tourism investment value county in China, and selected as the province's high-quality development and innovation leading county.

Dong'e has spared no effort in developing its ejiao industry, constructing industrial parks like China Resources, which are now home to 25 healthcare enterprises. These industrial parks attract investment and form a highly-competitive and integrated industrial cluster. The county government also urges small and medium-sized businesses to join in the industrial chain, shaping a system blending production, sales, healthcare and tourism.
