American expats immerse themselves in Chinese culture in Dezhou

Over 70 American youths embarked on a cultural exchange and learning journey to Pingyuan county in Dezhou, Shandong on July 15. The delegation visited the Pingyuan Debai Stone Museum and Jueyuan Academy, delving into China's rich heritage and traditions.
At the Pingyuan Debai Stone Museum, the group marveled at the diverse collection of exquisitely shaped stones, each a testament to nature's artistry. Their admiration was further ignited by a Sichuan Opera face-changing performance, the intricate artistry of which drew thunderous applause from the young Americans.
Upon arriving at Jueyuan Academy, the delegation was greeted by an introduction to the life of Confucius, followed by hands-on experiences involving traditional Chinese culture. They immersed themselves in the art of Chinese martial arts, learned the intricate techniques of tie-dyeing, crafted their own lacquer fans, and practiced calligraphy, gaining a deeper appreciation for China's time-honored craftsmanship. The day concluded with archery and pitch-pot games, adding a touch of friendly competition to the cultural immersion.
Two foreign expats expressed their delight with the day's activities, highlighting the opportunity to learn about China's traditional craftsmanship and immerse themselves in its rich culture.
The cultural exchange and learning journey served as a bridge connecting young Americans with China's profound cultural heritage, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the country's rich traditions and artistry.
