On July 3, a delegation from the Jeju Chinese Studies Association of South Korea, led by its president, Shim Kyu-ho, visited Longkou in Yantai, Shandong province, for a cultural exchange focusing on the legacy of Xu Fu, a Chinese alchemist and explorer during the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC).

The delegation toured several cultural sites in the city, including Xu Fu's ancestral hall and the Xu Fu culture research center at Yantai Nanshan University, where they explored the history of Xu Fu's voyage through statues, murals, and detailed text materials. Additionally, they held discussions with experts and scholars from Yantai Nanshan University.

Longkou, the birthplace of Xu Fu and the origin of Xu Fu culture, is rich in cultural resources and historical narratives of Xu Fu's eastward voyage. The city has prioritized the excavation, protection, and promotion of Xu Fu culture, achieving significant results and gaining widespread recognition from various sectors. This cultural impact extends nationwide and throughout East Asia.

The visit to Longkou by the delegation and Shim Kyu-ho, a renowned scholar of Chinese history in Korea, focused on mutual learning and promoting Xu Fu's historical journey. Through cultural exchanges and academic discussions, they aim to enhance global understanding of traditional Chinese culture. (Edited by Hu Kaili)
