Editor's Note:

The Yellow River runs through nine cities in East China's Shandong province and flows into the sea, bringing vitality and prosperity to the land. Along its banks, numerous intangible cultural heritage projects have been created and inherited, reflecting the colorful scenery, brilliant culture and rich diversity of Shandong. Shandong is a province with a long history and a splendid civilization. It boasts 186 national intangible cultural heritage projects, ranking it second in the country. Moreover, eight projects have been inscribed onto the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, according to the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism. Join me on a journey in Meeting the Sea Along the Yellow River in Shandong, to discover the treasures of intangible cultural heritage there and appreciate the charms of this ancient and modern land.

Experiencing exciting handicrafts and other intangible cultural heritage skills and watching demonstrations of them being done has become the top choice for more and more tourists coming to Suhai village, which is administered by Dabu town in Yanggu county in East China's Shandong province.

In Suhai village, there is a 14,600-square-meter intangible cultural heritage tourism park that enables visitors to experience their charms up close.

From paper-cutting with red paper and flying scissors to rolling and shaping dough to create lifelike sculptures – as well as shaping clay on a spinning wheel in a pottery and intricately carving patterns with a small knife, this tourism park has it all.

Moving forwards, plans are for Dabu town to hold activities such as the cultural festivals and academic tours to breathe more life into local intangible cultural heritage. (Edited by Jin Yongxue)
