The 2023 Sensor Industry Conference recently took place in the Laishan district of Yantai city, situated in East China's Shandong province – and the event was witness to fascinating insights about the future trends in the sector.

Over 220 industry experts, academics and representatives from leading companies worldwide attended – sharing the latest in technological advancements and accomplishments in sensors and internet of things applications.

Additionally, they offered invaluable extrapolations about industry developments, engaged in mutual exchanges and created a roadmap for upgrading the sensors industry.

Sensors – the sensory faculties of machines – can be considered the equivalent of human senses in the technological world.

They find wide-ranging applications in such areas as the auto sector, mobile devices, the internet and beyond. Their significance in modern technology is on par with that of microchips.

There are over 3,000 domestic sensor manufacturers and research institutions in the country, but most high-end sensor chips are still imported.

The industry's attention to sensors has steadily increased in recent years, leading to its rapid development. The domestic sensor industry has achieved a growth rate of 20 percent to 30 percent and there is now the capability to research and develop and produce mid-range to low-end sensors domestically.

Laishan district has prioritized the development of electronics, information technology and artificial intelligence. Companies such as Uniorange, JEREI Digital and Yantai Dongfang Wisdom Electric Co Ltd have proactively promoted the growth of the digital economy and industrial internet.

This is expected to help the district establish itself as a leading industrial hub, with top-notch expertise and significant influence.

Taking the conference as an opportunity, it is said that Laishan district will attract more domestic and international upstream and downstream sensor-related companies to establish their presence there in the future. (Edited by Zhou Yunlai)
