Over 20 teachers and students from the Southeast Asian Youth Summer Camp arrived on Sept 8 in Ningjin county – in Dezhou city, in East China's Shandong province – to have an adventure and discover traditional Chinese culture in the process.
During their visit, the summer camp participants explored various sites, including the Ningjin County Cultural and Art Center, the Ningjin Acrobatics Troupe and the Ningjin County Vocational School.
The visits allowed them to get a real idea about the county's great handicrafts and other forms of intangible cultural heritage, take in some heart-racing acrobatic performances and try their hand at making the Tang Hu Xun, a traditional Chinese musical instrument.
Ningjin county is known far and wide for being a leading cultural hub, which has brought it prestigious honors – like being named as a National Advanced Cultural County by the State Council.
It's also got a name for itself as being the birthplace of the Chinese folk art of acrobatics, as per the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Overall, Ningjin county has committed itself to promoting the Belt and Road initiative over the past few years.
It has proactively developed itself as a hub for international cultural exchanges, by introducing its special cultural heritage to visitors from at home and abroad. This is said to have helped spread awareness and appreciation of Chinese traditional culture to the global community. (Edited by Zhou Yunlai)
