Fruitful harvest in Shandong's county

At the premises of Dongkai Jintan Ecological Agriculture and Technology Company, which is owned by Dongming Dongkai Development Investment Group Co Ltd – located in Dongming county, in Heze city in East China's Shandong province – growers have been harvesting fruit and vegetables in the greenhouses.

The head of the company said that the industrial park, covering an area of over 4,000 mu (266.67 hectares) with 150 greenhouses, focuses on the production and sales of Sunshine Rose grapes, cherries and leafy green vegetables.

The company has given Qingdao Green Home Market Management Service Co Ltd a contract to produce 400 mu of Sunshine Rose grapes. It has also signed a sales contract for 100 mu of cherries with Zibo Yonglian Agriculture and Forestry Technology Co Ltd.

It's understood that nearly 2,000 mu of fruit from orchards operated by Dongming Dongkai Development Investment Group Co Ltd will be available for sale next autumn.

Meanwhile, the enterprise will provide seasonal employment opportunities for more than 50,000 people, paying over 4 million yuan ($548,660) in wages.

This has become one of the primary channels for increasing incomes for women and elderly households in the surrounding villages. (Edited by Zhou Yunlai)
