Wang Wei, a Chinese national from Juancheng county – in Heze city, in East China's Shandong province – recently shared his passion for Chinese characters with his foreign friends in Miami, in the US state of Florida and taught them how to write some basic characters.
Kelvin, an American pal, tried to copy them and said that he was impressed by the appearance and structure of Chinese characters.
"The combination and shape of Chinese strokes show a kind of artistic beauty. Each Chinese character seems to be a unique artwork," he said.
"I hope I have a chance to visit China and experience the charm of Chinese culture," said Daniela, another local friend.
Wang said that Chinese characters are the cultural treasure of China and it's his duty as an overseas Chinese to spread Chinese language and culture to the world.
He added that more and more Chinese people were taking up the responsibility of promoting the excellent traditional culture of China, boosting communications and exchanges about the culture and enabling more people in the world to get to know China. (Edited by Fan Yuanyuan)
