The lace handicraft of Dawenkou town – located in Daiyue district of Tai'an city in East China's Shandong – is a representative of traditional Chinese weaving and embroidery crafts.
The Dawenkou lace technique produces a decorative and usually hollow product made from cotton, hemp, silk, or various other fabrics. By drawing flower patterns and then embroidering and weaving them, an exquisite lace product is created.
Originating from Lu embroidery – one of the eight famous embroideries of China – the Dawenkou lace technique shows innovative and captivating patterns, as well as distinct layers of stitches.
It infuses profound and sincere human emotions, as well as a meticulous and delicate outlook on life, into the handicrafts. (Edited by Chen Chuxuan)
