Courtyard economy leads Linyi locals towards happiness
In recent years, Lanling county in Linyi city, East China's Shandong province, has been promoting the construction of beautiful courtyards, heralding them as excellent platform promoting rural vitalization.
Lanling county has thoroughly explored the courtyard economy to help local women achieve flexible entrepreneurship and employment channels that are right at their doorways.
The county has also encouraged its residents to take up hat processing, wickerwork, rope weaving, and clothing processing work, as they have the advantage of not having site limitations.
"In recent years, I can work at home and take care of children and the elderly while doing handicrafts. I can earn a monthly income of 3,000 to 4,000 yuan ($411 to $548)," said Li Xiaoxiao, a woman from Guolou village in Lanling county.
Moreover, the county has moved to explore the "beautiful courtyard +" model, which integrates folk customs, rural characteristics and personal hobbies with the courtyard economy.
"By promoting the courtyard economy, we are promoting the concept of self-reliance and diligence," said a county official.
"We encourage people at home to learn a skill and create a happy life by utilizing that skill," added the official. (Edited by Chen Chuxuan)
