According to the factory manager, the past decade has witnessed the factory undergo multiple transformations and upgrades.
Initially producing just mattresses, it now processes various types of furniture and has shifted its sales model from on-site to online e-commerce platforms, such as Alibaba, Tmall, JD.com and Douyin Mall.
Shawo Village Party Secretary Qiao Wenqi said that changing consumer demand had made traditional basic mattresses inadequate for the current market.
As a result, the local government had rolled out measures to promote upgrades in the mattress manufacturing industry. These included equipment updates, adopting technology and the creation of proprietary brands – all with the aim of enhancing product competitiveness.
Currently, Shawo village has over 50 mattress factories of various sizes, providing employment and income opportunities for more than 300 residents. This is widely said to have significantly contributed to the county's economic growth.
The development of the mattress industry in Shawo village has evolved from simple production to transformation and upgrades, catering to consumer preferences for comfort and health.
It also highlights the proactive efforts being made by the government in driving industrial advancement forwards. (Edited by Zhou Yunlai)
