To boost the vitality, competitiveness and growth of small individual businesses entities typically run by a single person and their family, Dong'e county – located in East China's Shandong province – has been promoting their upgrading to larger, registered companies.

One example of this is Zhang Ziliang, who transitioned his small individual concern engaged in food processing into a bigger registered company, with the help of the local administrative examinations and approvals department.

Zhang had been running his venture for years but felt restricted in its operations. With the opportunity to convert his business into an enterprise, he saw a chance for greater expansion and development.

Dong'e county has already witnessed over 40 similar transformations, which have injected new energy into the local economy.

The process of transitioning from an individual business to a registered enterprise involves more than simply changing status. It allows entrepreneurs like Zhang to address long-term development issues, unleash their creativity, expand their market and build up their brands.

To promote and guide this transformation, Dong'e county has undertaken various measures, including door-to-door visits, to explain the advantages – as well as the convenient and accessible services for the transformation process.

The county is encouraging financial institutions to provide credit support to successful businesses that have a high credit rating, sound financial management and good operational conditions, to support their cash flows.

Additionally, it has offered free legal services to small individual businesses to offer maximum convenience for businesses transitioning to an enterprise status. (Edited by Jin Yongxue)
