Hedong district of Linyi city in East China's Shandong province has been working to strengthen the construction of its agricultural and animal husbandry industry chains, contributing to the district's rural vitalization.

One of the notable developments is the rapid growth of Shandong Huizexin Meat Products Processing Co, which was established in the district’s Bahu township last year.

In just one year, the enterprise has increased its daily slaughter volume from 5 to over 50 cattle, making it one of the leading beef slaughtering and processing companies in the city.

This success story is attributed to Hedong district’s innovative approach, which revitalized a dormant vegetable dehydration processing plant and transformed it into a thriving meat processing facility. The district's strategy of "reviving old nests to attract new birds" has not only propelled industrial development but has also opened up new opportunities for local farmers to prosper.

To secure a stable market in the Yangtze River Delta, the district also attracted an animal husbandry project, which integrated with Huizexin by establishing a modern breeding farm in nearby village.

The district has also prioritized ensuring a stable supply of livestock feed. To achieve this, it has set up large-scale high-quality breeding bases on 3,000 mu (200 hectares) of fertile land in the local area. These bases annually produce over 20,000 metric tons of crop straw, which serves as excellent forage for livestock. (Edited by Xue Xinyi)
