Family farm contributes to rural vitalization
The Xuhua Family Farm in Dutang township – located in the Dingtao district of Heze city, in East China's Shandong province – is known far and wide for its luscious and aromatic pears.
This year it's expected to have a bumper harvest with its fruit hanging heavy from the branches, filling the air with sweet scent.

In the past, the quality of the pears varied due to uneven management techniques among farmers. To address this issue, the local Party committee established the family farm, bringing the farmers together to improve their management skills and introduce new pear varieties.
As a result, the farm has seen a significant increase in productivity and profitability.
Currently, the Xuhua Family Farm covers an area of more than 1,000 mu (about 67 hectares).
Local government has implemented a unified production management model in the area, which features coordinated purchases of agricultural materials – as well as centralized technical standards and production management, with unified packaging and harvesting.
This approach is said to ensure the high quality and sweetness of the pears, attracting buyers from all over the country.
Looking ahead, plans are for the local government to capitalize on its advantages in fruit cultivation, promote the district's distinctive agricultural products, boost agritourism activities and facilitate the integration of traditional agriculture with leisure farming – a raft of activities ultimately contributing to overall rural vitalization efforts.
