Hedong launches performance season
Hedong district in Linyi city, East China's Shandong province, recently performed selected dramas to its grassroots communities, enriching the cultural life of local residents.
Based on the city's performance season titled Yihezhiye, or Night by the Yihe River, Hedong will stage a number of theatrical productions that will resonate with people's daily life.
Adapted from a story about local residents, the play A Hedong Family struck a chord with the audience.

After the show, a viewer surnamed Li said she was excited and deeply touched by the play, as it made her feel like she was taken back in time.
Another woman surnamed Zhao said she looks forward to watching more plays when she was interviewed after the performance.

"I am very happy to see so many people come to our performance," said Jiang Weidong, a cast member in the short drama Veterans.
Jiang added that they are focusing on creating and rehearsing more short plays, and that they are relying on local revolutionary heritage resources so that more people can learn about Linyi’s culture and history.
The performance season is part of Hedong's efforts to building itself a cultural district. By improving public facilities and offering high-quality cultural services, the district has made progress in enriching the spiritual and cultural needs of the public. (Edited by Xue Xinyi)
