Shandong county beefs up its green, ecological protection
Yanggu county – located in Liaocheng city East China's Shandong province – is making significant strides in promoting its green industrial development and its environmental and ecological protection, to boot.
One of the most notable achievements is the implementation of an industrial wastewater cascade utilization project at the Senquan Water Plant, which has included the construction a 1,060-mu (70.67 hectares) artificial wetland to treat 20,000 metric tons of recycled water from the Senquan wetland each day.
This initiative is said to have greatly improved the recycling rate of industrial wastewater in the area.

To further support its green industrial development, Yanggu has been actively promoting the creation of an eco-friendly manufacturing system.
This encourages manufacturers to transform and upgrade to green production by following national standards and requirements.
Additionally, the county is implementing industrial water-saving actions and focusing on optimizing its industrial layout, transformation and water-saving technological improvements.
Key water-consuming enterprises are being encouraged to use advanced water-saving processes and technologies.
Yanggu is also advancing its energy efficiency benchmarking activities. Six enterprises with an annual energy consumption of over 5,000 metric tons per annum have been selected as benchmark entities. This involves formulating benchmarking plans and preparing energy efficiency benchmarking analysis reports.
As a result of all these efforts, Yanggu has achieved the development of multiple national, provincial and municipal green factories. This includes the national recognition of five green factories, one green supply chain, one green design demonstration enterprise and three green design products. (Edited by Jin Yongxue)
