Smart manufacturing boosts biopharma development in Shandong

The Luxi New District of Heze city – located in East China's Shandong province – has been busy promoting intelligent manufacturing, to provide a new engine for the high-quality development of its biopharmaceutical industry, local media reported.
In recent times, the production workshops of resident manufacturer Shandong Buchang Danhong Pharmaceutical Co Ltd has been well into producing injections. It is estimated that with the application of intelligent and automated technologies, the company has reduced half of its labor costs.
Overall, the innovation in production technology, product development and marketing has led to more and more biopharmaceutical companies in Heze embracing smart manufacturing.
Heze Modern Medical Port – which is one of the hubs for the development of the biopharma sector in Heze – is providing standardized production plants for enterprises, attracting innovative groups in the industry nationwide.
With 50 projects that have been signed up to date, the port aims to establish a complete biopharmaceutical industry development pattern – characterized by a welcoming ecosystem, openness, intelligence and resource sharing.
The automation of traditional Chinese medicine production, tailor-made services and the establishment of sharing platforms have already attracted numerous businesses and projects to settle in the new area.
Officials said recently that Heze will continue to strive for high-level planning and high-standard services, to promote industrial transformation and upgrading in the new area.
