Old-timer and seasoned craftsman Grandpa Amu – who hails from the county-level city of Linqing, administered by Liaocheng city, in East China's Shandong province – has become an unexpected celebrity on international social platforms.

That's because of his incredibly skilled use of mortise and tenon joints, a woodwork technique widely used in traditional Chinese architecture and furniture making – usually without any nails or glue.

In this video, Grandpa Amu heads out to a farm where he makes an amazing swinging balance toy using some branches, wowing some local kids. Let's check it out to find out how he's done it! (Edited by Chen Chuxuan)
