To date, the county has selected over 500 such individuals at the county level, including one national moral model nominee and nine "good people of China".
Moreover, it has also established a "good persons library", with nearly 1,000 examples of exemplary characters.
Through this approach, the county aims to promote and cultivate a culture of civility among its people, with the "good person" initiative being seen to enhance the moral quality of all people and the degree of civility in society.
The government has developed 10 policies to commend moral models and good people, including free entrance to scenic spots, priority registration and annual medical check-ups.
To create an atmosphere of "good people, good deeds", the county has also introduced financial products like the "virtue credit loans" to encourage this form of commendable behavior.
As a result, it has issued 1,517 civic credits worth 284 million yuan ($39.73 million). The county hopes to build on these initiatives and uphold the role of advanced model and exemplary citizens, to promote the civil and moral integrity of the entire community. (Edited by Jin Yongxue)
