With the summer grain harvest now in full swing in the town of Zhengwang – located in the Hedong district of Linyi city in East China's Shandong province, the local Party has stepped in to lend a helping hand.

Party secretary and other officials of Dayoujia village are busy bringing in the wheat with local farmers, helping them to improve harvesting operations and ensure the growth of their incomes.

To make it all happen, the wheat field in Dayoujia was divided into grid, with the harvesting group of village Party chiefs deployed in different sections. They're familiar with the details of each farming household, including the number of workers a family can field and the maturity of their wheat.

The middle aged and old aged farmers are the main work force in this summer harvest season, according to Fu Ranran, one of the village Party secretaries.

Fu explained that many local adults were working outside their hometown and some were also absent because they were accompanying their children who are sitting for the national college entrance examination, or gaokao.
