Shandong launches cultural exchange event featuring yangko

The launch ceremony of the cultural exchange event for folk culture and art villages in Shandong province was held on May 12 in Miaowuzhuang village in Yangxin county, Binzhou city.
The launch ceremony featured the drum and yangko – a national intangible cultural heritage in Yangxin county.
Yangko teams from Jiyang district of Jinan city, Jiaozhou city, Shanghe county, and Yangxin county put up yangko performances while an exhibition of folk culture and art from villages in the Yellow River basin of Shandong province was also held.

The cultural exchange event will last until October. During this period, more than 60 folk culture and art villages in the province will carry out over 100 exchange and activities.
The event aims to have folk culture and art villages play a bigger role in promoting the high-quality development of public cultural service, boost cultural tourism consumption, and contribute to rural vitalization.
Between 2021 and 2023, Shandong designated 70 places as folk culture and art villages. (Edited by Fan Yuanyuan)
