The Beijing-Hong Kong Finance for Start-ups Roadshow was held at the demonstration center of Zhongguancun Science Park on Oct 24.

The event was part of the 17th Beijing-Hong Kong Trade Negotiation Fair, and was sponsored by the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee and Hong Kong Trade Development Council, and organized by Tsinghua Science Park and Hong Kong Science Park.

Other supporters of the event were: Zhongguancun Credit Promotion Association, Zhongguancun Innovation and Private Equity Investment Association, InvestHK, Hong Kong Science and Technology innovation Bureau, Zhongguancun Listed Companies Association and AAMA China.

The roadshow was one of a series of activities aimed to build a communication and interactive platform for innovative companies from Zhongguancun Science Park and Hong Kong. Organizers also aimed to facilitate the industrialization of scientific results and promote mutual benefits.

A total of 80 representatives from more than 30 investment organizations and government organizations, listed companies, start-ups and entrepreneurs attended the activity, and ten Hong Kong technology parks and two Zhongguancun start-ups gave details about their financing requirements.

Since the Zhongguancun administrative committee signed a strategic cooperation memorandum at the 16th Beijing-Hong Kong Trade Negotiation Fairin 2012, cooperation between the science park and the SAR has strengthened and, in March, the Hong Kong Science Park set up a Zhonguancun liaison office - its first such office in the Chinese mainland. This is expected to mark the beginning of a long-term collaboration based on common interests, and is also of great significance to the integration of the industrial capital and financial capital of both Beijing and Hong Kong.

There are about 224 domestic and overseas listed companies in Zhongguancun. Last year, the annual innovative investment and the investment value accounted for one third of the entire country. Zhongguanun had one sixth of the nation's listed enterprises in the Growth Enterprise Market (GEM), and 79 enterprises were listed overseas, which accounted for more than one third of its total listed companies. The science park's listed enterprises in NASDAQ accounted for one fourth of the country's total and its listed enterprises on the New York Stock Exchange accounted for more than one fourth of the total.

Zhongguancun has been focusing on attracting investment from Hong Kong, and the science park has great potential to contribute to Beijing-Hong Kong cooperation.
