Lenovo has opened its largest flagship shop in the world in Qianmen, Beijing, and it has also launched its high-end sub-brand called Vibe. The shop is expected to receive 150,000 visitors per year.

Liu Jun, senior vice president of Lenovo, said “the key of high-end cellphones lies in the design and users’ experience.”

He also said that the new Vibe X cellphone is very easy to operate even with a single hand, as the keyboard moves automatically to the lower end when the user’s hand inclines to the left or right.

Feng Xing, vice president of Lenovo, said that “in China, the users of high-end mobile phones can be really rich people or ordinary young people who want to be fashionable. For example, many Chinese people have iphones now. However, some people may easily buy one while some others save money for several months in order to have one. High-end mobile phone markets are essential for the brand impact of mobile manufacturers.”

Lenovo decided to open flagship brand shops as part of a new marketing and sales strategy. The company previously focused on opening numerous shops inside second-tier or third-tier shops.

Lenovo has a flagship shop on Wangfujing, and also aims to open one in Wangjing - where it hopes to attract many young consumers.

The day before Lenovo opened its shop in Qianmen, Samsung opened a brand image shop nearby. Liu Jun has set a goal for Lenovo’s mobile phones to exceed Samsung’s share of the market within the next two years.
