A group of London liaison officers from Beijing’s Zhongguancun administrative committee visited the UK Science Park Association and five British science parks between June and July to promote communication with their counterparts and broaden channels for scientific innovation. They also held symposiums with local Chinese scholars during the trip.

The director from the London office introduced Zhongguancun’s scientific and industrial development as well as its innovative and pro-business environment, while also expressing wishes for deeper cooperation with British parks.

The five parks, which are members of the International Association of Science Parks (IASP), promised to support Zhongguancun’s bid for the 2015 IASP annual meeting and introduce companies to their Chinese counterpart. The two sides also shared thoughts on the technology industry and finance investment.

After the visit, the London office held several symposiums with local Chinese professionals and scholars, including Professor Wang Jihong from Warwick University and Professor Chu Daping from Cambridge University. The symposiums hoped to promote various Zhongguancun campaigns and introduce the park’s policies.

The office, in cooperation with local Chinese scholars and student unions, organized briefing sessions in several top British universities to prepare for their return visit in September.
