Leyard launches China’s most advanced LED displays in Zhongguancun Wang Lianqing Leyard Optoelectronic Co in Zhongguancun launched six new oversized LED displays at a launch conference on July 25.

Leyard is China’s most famous LED producer and LED solution provider. The small-distance mosaic LED products at the launch conference are China’s most advanced LED displays. Their entry to the commercial productive stage marks China’s leading global position in LED panel technology. Leyard signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Panasonic (from the United States) and also signed with D3 to provide equipment for NBC TV station. Leyard also established a joint venture in Europe.

When mentioning LED TVs, most Chinese think of the products seen and sold in domestic markets. However, those are not real LED televisions but actually liquid crystal display (LCD) panels with LED backlights. A more appropriate name would be “LED-backlight LCD displays”, some experts say. The most essential feature of a real LED television is its LED panel. A LED panel is better than a traditional LCD panel, as the former has a richer color gamut, faster response speed, higher contrast, and better visual angles. Li Jun, chairman of Leyard, says the products launched at the conference were researched and developed after thousands of experiments over the past five years. They represent Chinese innovation.

Leyard’s small-distance mosaic LED displays are thin, lightweight, ultra-silent, energy efficient, and free of flicks and screen burns. Their brightness, viewing angle, and picture size are all adjustable. They have ultra-high refresh rates and long life cycles. They can also play 3D images.

At the conference, Leyard launched two types of LED panels: conventional (using discrete LEDs) and surface-mounted device (SMD) panels. Altogether there were six large-scale LED displays. Five of them were conventional panels, including two 110–inch panels, a 144–inch panel, a 164–inch panel and a 288–inch panel. Mounted at an ultra-close distance of P1.6mm, the 288-inch 10-bit LED TV produces 1.07 billion discrete colors, providing smooth transitions between adjacent discrete colors and a great representation of the colors we experience in day-to-day life.

The LED products were developed by Leyard, along with three electronic technology corporations, Everlight, Xiaomi Tech and Texas Instruments, to meet the domestic consumer needs of high-end household appliances. These new LED products are very promising, as they can be used in many public places, namely conference centers, cinemas and offices, some experts say. LED products are also needed in many industries, such as military, public safety, energy, radio and television, and transportation. Sales are expected to grow in the coming future.

As a pioneer in advanced LED application technology, Leyard has long been researching and developing LED panels of small mounting distance. It has made outstanding achievements in this area. Its LED panels have been highly praised by other companies of the same industry and were used in more than 6,000 events and in several hundreds of thousands of products. They were used in the Shanghai Expo, Beijing Olympic venues, large domestic stadiums, airports and stations. They are also widely used in the field of radio and television, finance and telecommunications. In the opening ceremony of the 2008 Olympic Games,

Leyard’s giant LED panels displayed the giant scroll and dreamlike Olympic rings. During the celebration ceremony of the 60th anniversary of the PRC, four huge LED screens were used, three of which were produced by Leyard. They covered 1,000 square meters. Leyard’s two products, the TVPro2.5 and NV10, won the bid for the background screen system of the newsroom in CCTV’s new building on July 10, according to the company’s notice.

Relative officials from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Xinhua News Agency, and Bejing municipal government attended the launch conference and expressed their appreciation of Leyard’s breakthrough contribution to China’s LED panel technology.
