Zhongguancun's Yanqing Park, covering an area of 4.91 square kilometers, was officially recognized on April 3 when Gou Zhongwen, Beijing's vice-mayor, presented a plaque in honor of the occasion.

The park, which consists of the Badaling Development Zone, Yanqing Development Zone and Kangzhuang Rural Employment Base, is now home to 1,496 companies, among which 110 are entities with registered revenue totaling 7.32 billion yuan ($1.18 billion) in 2012.

"The park will offer a great opportunity to transform Yanqing's development model, promote industrial upgrade and build a district that stands as an example of green Beijing," a senior official in Yanqing county said.

The three development zones, according to their own characteristics and comparative advantages, will focus on different areas of industry such as new energy, advanced equipment, biomedicine, new materials and textiles.

The park, under preferential policies, will breed a series of industry clusters with distinctive features. With more and more projects completed in each zone, the park is bound to grow even stronger.
