The State Council recently approved a new layout of Zhongguancun Science Park, expanding it from 10 to 16 sub-parks to enhance its innovative capacity.
The total area of the park is now 488 square kilometers from the previous 232 square kilometers. Huairou Sub-Park, with a land area of 7.11 square kilometers in Yanqi Economic Development Area in Beijing's Huairou district, was included in the science park.
"Yanqi has grown into a full-fledged area with five pillar industries such as biomedicine and modern manufacturing. As many as 290 companies operate there, including 80 foreign enterprises from the United States, Britain, Germany, France, and others," said Zhou Fushu, director of the administrative committee of Yanqi Economic Development Area.
Huairou Park will embrace new development opportunities thanks to favorable policies for Zhongguancun Science Park. Under the framework of Zhongguancun's innovation platform, companies in Huairou Park will enjoy six supportive policies to increase their innovative capacity.
Establishment of the sub-park's administrative body, job placement and other follow-up work will begin very soon.
