Cheng Jing

Cheng Jing, born in 1963 in Beijing, is a professor at the Medical Systems Biology Research Center of Tsinghua University School of Medicine and doctoral supervisor in Biophysics.

Cheng Jing, born in 1963 in Beijing, is a professor at the Medical Systems Biology Research Center of Tsinghua University School of Medicine and doctoral supervisor in Biophysics. He is also director of the National Engineering Research Center for Beijing Biochip Technology and president of Beijing Boao Biochip Co Ltd.

Educational background:

1979-1983, received a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in Shanghai Tiedao University (now Tongji University)

1979-1983, received a Ph. D. in Biology in the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry, University of Strathclyde

1992-1993, postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry, University of Strathclyde

1993-1994, postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology, University of Aberdeen

1994-1996, postdoctoral fellow at the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Department, School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania

Working and research experience:

1983-1986, assistant engineer at Diesel Engine Branch Plant, Ziyang Internal Combustion Engine Factory, Ministry of Railways

1986-1988, assistant engineer at Judicial Expertise Center, Southwest University of Political Science and Law

1988, visiting scholar at University of Strathclyde

1996-1999, assistant research professor at the School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, principal scientist/engineer and principal investigator of Nanogen

Jan 1998, prepared to establish the Biochip Research and Development Center of Tsinghua University

Mar 1999, returned to China and officially acted as director of the Biochip Research and Development Center of Tsinghua University and held a concurrent post as chief technology officer at AVIVA Biosciences till June 2001

Mar 2000-present, director of National Engineering Research Center for Beijing Biochip Technology and responsible for its construction and operation, and technical director of Beijing Boao Biochip Co Ltd
