Longjing Gorge in Dabie Mountain
Updated: 2014-01-09

Longjing Gorge is located in the northeast of the White Horse Tip in Dabie Mountain. The line distance between Longjing Gorge and the White Horse Tip is only 4 km.

In Longjing Gorge, there are several waterfalls and the one with the highest elevation is in the Dabie Mountain area. Also home to the largest scale waterfalls the Longjing Gorge is 15 km long, 400 meters deep and 40 to 300 meters wide. Sitting in the gorge between two green mountains, there are numerous majestic waterfalls with thousands of jagged rocks.

There are four waterfalls found in the area with water flowing all the year round. The highest of which is 70 meters tall with the other three following at 50, 40 and 30 meters in height. Their names are very distinctive with “long” (meaning “dragon” in Chinese) as a theme. The highest waterfall is called “Longmen Jump”. It falls from the two peaks with great momentum. The 50-meter high waterfall is called “Longjing Lake”, because there is a 100-square meter pool under the waterfall. The 40-meter high waterfall is called “Longwang Bottle”, for its shape resembles the wine bottles used by ancient emperors. The 30-meter high falls are called the “Shenlong Hand”, which is like dragon claws playing with beads.

The Longjing Gorge is called the, “the best gorge in Dabie Mountain” because it has “the highest elevation, intact vegetation, largest scale waterfalls, most beautiful scenery, and perfect ecological environment.”
