Cultural tourism booms in Hefei
Updated: 2013-08-13

Many new cultural venues have been built recently in Binhu new district, Hefei, Anhui province.

The Campaign of Crossing the Yangtze River Memorial Hall in the core zone of Binhu district has the largest indoor statues in China. It also houses more than 1,000 revolutionary relics, a magnificent gallery and a 4D cinema. It has received over 700,000 visitors since its opening on November 28, 2012.

The Binhu International Exhibition Center, the largest exhibition center in Anhui and the host of many important events, will welcome the seventh China (Hefei) International Culture Expo from September 13 to 16.

Besides the existing cultural venues, several new venues will be built in Binhu district during the period of the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015). To date, the design and site selection of a museum and urban planning exhibition hall has been completed. A children's activity center is also being planned. Wanda Cultural Tourism City is about to start construction. It is an extremely attractive project that will change the tourism industry of Hefei.

The project has a total investment of over 30 billion yuan ($4.9 billion), of which 19 billion yuan will go towards cultural tourism. According to the plan, the project will be completed in 2016 and is expected to receive 20 million people every year with a maximum daily capacity of 100,000 people. Wanda Cultural Tourism City will serve as a leading brand to promote the development of cultural tourism in Hefei. The project plan contains five aspects -- culture, tourism, commerce, hotels and Binhu Bar Street. It will become a tourist paradise by 2016.
