After four years of construction, Jiuhuashan Airport in Chizhou, Anhui province, was put into use on July 29. The first flight took off from the airport was a China United Airlines flight to Beijing Nanyuan Airport.
For the route from Chizhou to Beijing, the airport has a China United Airlines flight every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, taking off at about 7:40 pm and arriving at Beijing Nanyuan Airport at about 9:30 pm. It will take off at 4:50 pm and arrive at 6:40 pm for the return trip.
From August 12, a Juneyao Airlines flight will stop in Chizhou on the route from Shanghai to Chengdu. The route from Chizhou to Guangzhou is expected to open in early September, with a flight every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The route for Taiwan travelers from Chizhou to Xiamen and another traveling from Korea to Qingdao or Yantai are in their planning stage.
According to the news conference on July 22, ticket booths will be setup at the Chizhou Administrative Center and the terminal building. Telephone and online ticket-booking will be available soon, but the price still remains unclear.
Chizhou Jiuhuashan Airport is the fifth civil aviation airport in Anhui province. Several other airports are expected to be constructed over the next few years.
